I have a fairly monotonous job and I read a lot of books. I like being transported to a different place and time. Very few books surprise me and this one was the typical “heroes quest”. Still, even though it was not literary genius, it transported me and gave me several hours of true entertainment. I will read more from this author. I can also wholeheartedly recommend this to my 11-year-old son who is a budding book worm.

An outside observef tells the story of a young man who does not fit in with the rest of his village. A basic description for an engaging story that is as old as history but still feels new and interesting. Thought- provoking and fun to read.
I really enjoyed this book. It caught me up from the first chapter... and the way he worked in to the main character was really clever. Loved it. Anxious to read the next book!
My favorite of the Historian saga and the first in the series. This story had an interesting manner to share the life story of a family that loved each other through the damning judgment of their neighbors.
The duality of mankind is something we all struggle with. The Price of Creation really makes you think about the many ways it affects us all. When we choose to hone only one side of our nature, what is the cost? If you enjoy great, thought provoking stories then I recommend this book most highly!
I picked this up because Lance Conrad came and spoke to my son's elementary school and did a great job and I was curious about his writing. I liked this story. It was a very unique premise and told from a unique point of view. It was a little puzzling at the beginning to figure out who exactly the narrator was, but that sort of comes through as the story progresses. I liked that the story has a sort of "motto" but it doesn't come across too strongly. The hero is good, but not inhuman. A good read for older grade school on up!
A rhythmically well developed plot, intriguing narration, and bits of wisdom sprinkled among a fantasy landscape centered around the struggle of Creation vs. Destruction is what you'll find from Lance Conrad's "The Price of Creation". The concept of magical stones that predetermine one's areas of excellence are a wonderfully thought out and well implemented idea. Some of the characters are rather one-dimensional at times and the author is not adverse to incorporating cliches; in spite of this I feel that the book, as a young author's gateway novel into the world of young adult fantasy, gets the job done in style and brings you along for an exciting ride. Don't miss out on a book pulled straight from the mind of one of the most quirky and interesting men I have ever known.
Very good book. I found myself irritated by the narrator. He was useless and smug most of the time. If the story had been written without the Historian, I would have liked it more.
